Anonymous 3 (depression)

My best friend is depressed. Simple as that. Been diagnosed and everything. I just want to help her, because she's amazing, but sometimes I can't find the right things to say. Uh in question for, I guess just what should I do? In general.

Thanks :)

First of all, let me start by saying how good of a friend you already are. We can already tell you really care about this person and that's great. So, it is completely understandable that you can't find the right things to say, because you are not a professional. You are just someone who has their friend's best interest at heart, which already makes you an amazing friend.

The only thing you can do is be there for her and support her 100%. However, if things for some reason do get out of hand, you need to let someone know. Preferably, a trustworthy adult who you think will be of great help. Something else you might want to do is to try and get her mind off of anything that's troubling her. Maybe you guys should go to the movies, mall, an amusement park, or do something that she likes doing. Unfortunately, depression cannot be cured, so don't feel like your obligated to make her happy every second of every day, because we are not superhuman.

We admire your great concern for your friend and we really do hope that everything turns out alright. If you ever come to a point where you yourself are having a hard time, feel free to contact us personally. Don't forget you can always count on us and know that you are a great friend. :)

Sincerely,
Priory Peers

Anonymous 2 (friends)

Sometimes I feel like i can only do whatever my friends are doing even if i dont want to. how do I tell them that??

thank you

Hey there!
So, first off, you shouldn't have to feel obliged to do what your friends are doing if you don't want to. We think you should first try and find a common ground between you and your friends. Something you both like to do. If that doesn't work, then you should confront one of your friends and tell them how you feel. If they are your friend, they should understand and try to find something that everyone can enjoy. We know confrontation can be hard, but it is necessary if you want to be able to have a good time with your friends. That's what friends are for. In the end, we think that suggesting other things to do or confronting one or all your friends would be the way to go. If they are good friends, they will really try to make an effort and try to find a common ground so everyone can be happy. :)

Best of Luck,

Ms. Anon

Hi Priory peers :)

I've been having a problem with a outside-of-school friend for a while now. We've been friends for a long time, but these days, I've felt like she's been really distant and stops talking to me sometimes. Though I realize she's busy, I can't help but feel a bit sad that she's treating me this way. I know I might sound childish, but I'd really love some advice about this :)

Dear Ms. Anon,
Our best advice to you is to simply talk to her about it, but in the most polite way possible. Tell her that you have felt a little bit of distance and your wondering if you did anything wrong or if shes simply been busy, etc. While it might not solve the issue, it will give you a clear cut answer and will give you an idea on how to go on from there. Since she is such a reliable friend to you, I guarantee she will give you an honest reply. I suggest doing it in person, but thats more up to you.

If you don't feel like confronting her, just wait a few more weeks for summer vacation to hit. Hopefully, she will be less busy and it will give you more time to bond :)

Anonymous Girl

hey priory peers,
i've liked this boy for a really long time but he has a girlfriend. his girlfriend is one of my really good friends so i feel really bad. i dont know what to do.
-anonymous girl

Dear anonymous girl,
the first thing you need to think about is whether the boy is more important than the friendship. If she is one of your really good friends then it would be wise to back off as hard as it may be. We know that the boy may seem more important now, but in the long run, friendship overcomes crushes. Our final word of advice would be to try and respect their relationship. You never know, something better might come along. :)

How to Ask Questions

Hey guys! Welcome to our site. So, here's how you can ask questions.

1. Comment on this blog post (comment will be your question) and we will make each question an individual post (since only we have access to post blogs). This post will have your answer from either Maggy, Reed, or both.
2. This site is under Maggy's email address, but Reed has access to it as well, so both of us will be reading/answering.
3. Sorry if there is any confusion. We hope you enjoy our site and that it is of good use to you.

***P.S. If you have a gmail and go to our blog, I think you can make a Display name to comment on our blog, so that will help us respond to you by that display name. If you want your question to be anonymous, try to pick a display name that doesn't give away who you are (so, don't write your email adress or something that has your name in it).
However, if you don't have a gmail, it's okay. You can still comment as an Anonymous, but try to sign off as a certain name if you can, so you know which answer belongs to you. (Example: Sincerely, Anonymous 1 or Sincerely, Mr. Confused) Something like that. Make up a name!)***

From yours truly,
Priory Peers :)

Introduction

Hi! Welcome to our advice column. As a part of our Senior Project, we are making an online advice column for Priory students, both high schoolers and middle schoolers. We hope that you will use, not (ab)use, our blog. This site is made to answer any questions or problems you might have. Here, we will answer, or attempt to answer them. DISCLAIMER: WE ARE NOT PROFESSIONALS. WE ARE JUST TEENAGERS WHO WANT TO HELP YOU OUT. Therefore, our advice is just an opinion that we hope will help you out with whatever you're going through. You are not obligated to listen to us. However, we do hope that our advice makes you feel a little better. Being high school students, we know there are many personal problems that happen, which is why we don't want you to through such a tough high school rollercoaster.

The main problems we will be tackling are relationships, crushes, (anything in the love-ish department), being yourself, friend problems, minor family problems, and maybe some school stress. The typical problems teenagers and kids usually confront. If you are experiencing any depression or have more intense problems, yes you can let us know, but it will be our duty to inform an adult if something gets too out of hand.

Our overall goal is to help you be a happier person and not have to worry so much on minor problems (even though they seem like HUGE problems). We hope that you use this column several times, because we really have your best interest at heart.

Sincerely,
Maggy & Reed :)
